Public Transport

There are various manners one should keep in mind when using buses, the most common public transport in Argentina. It is quite common to see people standing next to the bus door waiting until others enter the bus until entering themselves. Letting others take their seats first and allowing them to travel in comfort is an easy way to show respect. Stay polite by waiting patiently without rushing others. The same rule applies after, when taking a seat. Ask people near you if they want to sit, even though they will likely respond no, it is a courtesy. It is fine to sit in any area of the bus and change seats during the journey.
Another thing to take into account is the expectation to always give seats to elders, pregnant women, and mothers withs small children. Some even believe all women should have seating priority.
In comparison to the USA, it is also expected to wait until everyone has entered, for people to take their seats, and to always offer a seat to others. As well, it is considered rude to move seats or talk on the phone while on the bus.
