Greetings
Each country has its own idea of a common greeting. In Argentina, it is expected to to kiss the cheek of the person you are meeting, or kiss both cheeks in some provinces. If two people are close, a hug can be included. This greeting shows a little love and affection between greeters.
To a country like the US this might seem overly affectionate and uncomfortable, especially the idea of two men kissing each other. There it is more common to share a simple wave, handshake, or at most a quick hug between two girlfriends.
However other countries may perceive this Argentinian habit as similar to their own, like in Russia, where three kisses(or even up to six) are commonly shared. For others, Argentinian greetings may even seem distant- some communities in Africa greet each other with an intimate touch. Participants will give up to two or three intimate squeezes with friends and family, or four to show more of an interest.
While there is a great variety in greetings around the world, it doesn't mean one should feel obliged to engage or change their habits. Feel free to adapt to the country's greeting or explain your own.
