Colloquial Speech and Addressing Others
It is often heard that Argentinians tend to be friendly and easy-going. However, colloquial speech(especially younger generations) surprises foreigners because of the casual swearing among family and friends. Yet Argentinians remain conscious of the situation and make an effort to avoid swearing in inappropriate situations and places. Context is important.
For example, while insulting an annoying neighbor or teacher behind their back is accepted, in person no swears should be used and good manners should be maintained.
Foreigners are not expected to follow this habit, but if a "boludo" does happen to slip out, it will be received with smiles.
In the USA these manners change considerably. Americans typically swear only when feeling upset, angry, or passionate(that cake was just so DAMN good). While it may seem normal for Argentinians to use swears when joking with family, in the US using swears among family is considered rude. It is important to remember that in the US swearing is not casual and every feeling is not expressed as loudly.
