The mobile phone

In Argentina, using the mobile phone depends in how confident you are with people and the rules of the establishments.
Depending on the school, they can let you use your phone or not. Some schools take your phone away if you’re using it in class. You shouldn't use it in this case, but if you really want to do it, you have to be careful not to get caught (but you should also try to pay attention to your teacher). Schools in the USA do not let you use your mobile phone. If they see you with it, your grades will go down.
Like in many other countries, you must not use your phone in quiet zones like the bus. Even if some people listen to music or answer their calls very loudly, it is considered very bad manners and it will bother the people there. On the other hand using the phone in the bank and sometimes in the gas station is completely prohibited so you must not do that either.
When you are with people, you can also use your phone depending on the confidence you have with them and if you’re close. If you’re with your friends and they all are with the mobile phones it’s okay if you use it, but it may look bad if they are having a conversation with you and you are texting or playing a game, they can think that you don’t care about what they are telling you.
When you’re eating out, you may use your phone to take pictures of the dishes or the moment you’re sharing with your loved ones, this is pretty normal in Argentina, and you won’t look bad if you do it. But when you’re having dinner with your family, especially if you don’t see them often, they may judge you for using the mobile phone at the moment you should be talking to them.
